Previous Wild Women and Wine comments October 2010:
Jim and Ginni,
Wow, what a fantastic weekend! The food was great and I really enjoyed working
with Desiree. I would love any of the recipes that are easily accessed and I
look forward to being more involved in upcoming activities. With the season
winding down and work managing to fill in the gaps, my hope is to get a solid
schedule for next year.
Thank again for all you do, for everyone! Your desire to share your skills and
resources are a gift for so many riders.
See you soon
Julie
Good Morning Ginni!
What an awesome weekend! Thank you! I watched the interaction between you and
Jim and the love and joy between you fills the room if one cares to notice.
Truth be told I think that was the best part of the weekend! It was inspiring,
refreshing and very, very warm.
The food was awesome too and I am reminding you of sending recipes!
Again, thank you for sharing your love and joy!
Jolene
Thanks for your thoughts!

The Original Wild Women in 2000
Frequently Asked Questions:
What is level of
horses/riders?
This will be our fourth year for Wild
Women. We have had every level: "returning rider" after
15 years away, the majority who may ride weekly and jump
2'7", non-jumpers, trainers who have jumped prelim and have
done 4th level dressage. (4th level was in a class by herself!).
This year's group so far, are all experienced... first-2 level
dressage and jumping.
How many
participants?
We try to keep participants to 15.
We've turned people away, for we don't want too many.
Is there someone that
attended that I could ask about their experience?
We have had local participants, some
from Wenatchee, Spokane, and Tri-Cities, Walla Walla and Gig
Harbor. We could put you in touch with someone.
Have you a horse I may
rent for the weekend?
We have a couple of horses at this
point that are available. The cost will be $25 a day or $50 for
the Wild Women Event. We have and will provide the tack.
Where do the participants
stay?
Some camp in tents. Some have campers, etc. Others do the hotel
or bed and breakfast thing. We can provide additional information
regarding local lodging if you wish. Just let us know what kind
of accommodations you seek.
What facilities are
available for my horse?
We provide outside wooden stalls, we do have 5 indoor stalls, and
we have large paddocks (with electric tape/wire).
Who are this year's
instructors?
Each year we change our instructors a
bit: In the past we've used Janice Bryant, from Gig Harbor, an
eventer at prelim level, Barb McBride, an advanced dressage
rider, Julie Stephens, a hunter-jumper from Spokane. We've used Jim
Briggs for our cross-country and ground manners. 2010 instructor was Desiree
Smith-Johnson, an instructor and eventer. We will post when confirmed.
Do we have to jump?
Actual jumping in the past has been an
option, we worked on seeing a line and getting the distances
correct by using a course on the ground! (Then after lunch we did
make a course from this and many rode the course.) Cross-country
is schooled- we have everything from 18" to prelim jumps,
usually we school the buggers, water and ditches! This July we
worked on the scary things, good for the eventers or the trail
horse...we walked over tarps, walked through ditches and over
bridges...my horse jumped the bridge much to my surprise!
Do we need to make
reservations?
Interest has been high this year.
Please get your deposit in to assure your place.
What do I need to bring?
For ground manners, something we always try to include, you need
a halter and lead rope. The stalls all need a stall guard, or a
long rope to tie across, a jacket for the evening weather and
your best horse stories to share.
What if I don't like "camping under the stars?"
We have a bunkhouse available for guests. Please call to inquire about the
rooms available as the facility is being remodeled.
